Terms of Service

Eligibility and account requirements

You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and Developer Policy, and with all laws that apply to you. You must be old enough to use Discord in your jurisdiction and, where required, old enough to enter a binding contract.

Server owners and administrators who configure Nabu represent that they have authority to add the bot, grant requested permissions (including Message Content where safety features require it), and bind their community to these Terms for use of the Service in that server. Dashboard users must sign in with a valid Discord account and maintain the security of their session and linked Patreon account.

Service description

Nabu is a hosted Discord bot with a web dashboard that helps communities manage server workflows. Features may include, without limitation:

• AI-assisted /ask commands powered by third-party language models, with confirmation flows before impactful actions;
• Self-service role menus, welcome and leave messages, and scheduled announcements;
• Community Safety Alerts and related moderation tooling when enabled by administrators;
• Guild configuration, tool permissions, and audit options through the dashboard;
• Premium capabilities unlocked through eligible Patreon memberships.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Feature availability can depend on Discord API limits, your subscription tier, bot permissions, and server configuration. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis as described further below.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited conduct includes:

• Using Nabu to violate Discord's rules, harass others, distribute malware, spam, or illegal content, or facilitate fraud or abuse;
• Attempting to bypass confirmation safeguards, permission checks, rate limits, or access controls on the bot or website;
• Reverse engineering, scraping, or probing the Service except as permitted by law or Discord's policies;
• Using AI features to generate unlawful, deceptive, or harmful content, or to automate actions you are not authorized to perform in a server;
• Misrepresenting your identity, Patreon membership, or authority to manage a guild or linked account;
• Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially exploiting the Service without our prior written consent, except ordinary community use of Premium features you legitimately subscribe to.

We may investigate violations and cooperate with Discord, Patreon, law enforcement, or other parties as appropriate. You are responsible for content and actions taken through your account, your server configuration, and commands issued in channels where Nabu is present.

Billing and Patreon subscriptions

Premium features, where offered, are billed through Patreon on a subscription basis unless we state otherwise. By subscribing, you also agree to Patreon's terms and payment policies. Patreon handles payment processing; we do not store your full payment card details.

• Subscription fees, billing intervals, and tier benefits are described on our Patreon page and may change with notice on Patreon or the website;
• You must link your Discord account on our website so we can apply Premium benefits to eligible guild slots associated with your membership;
• If a subscription ends, is declined, or is refunded, Premium access may be revoked automatically after a reasonable grace period;
• Except where required by law or Patreon policy, fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started. Chargebacks or abuse of refund processes may result in suspension.

Free features may remain available without a subscription, but we do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be free.

Termination and suspension

You may stop using the Service at any time by removing Nabu from your server, signing out of the website, and canceling Patreon subscriptions through Patreon.

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, in whole or in part, if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if required by Discord, Patreon, law, or operational necessity. Where practical, we will provide notice through Discord, the website, or email associated with your Patreon account.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law—will survive.

Service availability

We strive to keep Nabu reliable, but the Service may be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades, Discord or third-party outages, rate limits, or events outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. Scheduled or emergency downtime may occur without advance notice.

AI responses can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate. Administrators should use confirmation flows and permissions thoughtfully, especially for moderation or structural server changes.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that AI-generated output will be accurate, lawful, or suitable for your purpose; that safety alerts will detect every harmful message; or that the Service will meet your requirements or comply with regulations specific to your industry or region. You use AI and automation features at your own discretion and remain responsible for reviewing confirmed actions and server policies.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither we nor our affiliates, officers, employees, agents, suppliers, or licensors will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service through Patreon in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (USD $50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

Except where prohibited, you agree that exclusive jurisdiction for disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service lies in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us through the support channels below and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally.

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you non-waivable rights to bring claims in local courts, nothing in this section limits those rights.

Changes to terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the website, bot, or support server. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different process.
